Public Statement from Executive Board
November 14, 2011
In light of the current broad public discussion about funding higher education, the Executive Board of Academic Professionals of California declares that:
1) We oppose, as divisive and ineffective, solving the higher education budget crisis through student fee increases, wage freezes and/or layoffs. And, we support the calls by the Occupy Wall Street and the ReFund California mobilizations, demanding that the government require the financial sector to make a fair share contribution to the revenues needed for providing quality public higher education.
2) We stand firmly with CFA, as it demands that CSU honor recent fact-finding reports.
3) We insist that the implementation of any CSU Online program be based on providing the best quality education to students, and decent, professional working conditions for employees, and not be aimed primarily at cost reduction, or privatization, in CSU operations.
