Labor Issues and Unions
LIUNA (Laborers' International Union of North America): This is the international union with which APC was affiliated until its disaffiliation on August 31, 2007.

The Labor Project for Working Families: A national advocacy and policy center founded in 1992 by the California Bay Area Labor Councils, AFL-CIO. It provides "technical assistance, resources and education to unions and union members addressing family issues in the workplace including child care, elder care, flexible work schedules, family leave and quality of life issues."
AFL-CIO Home Page: The AFL-CIO is the American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations, "a voluntary federation of 65 national and international labor unions" representing over 13 million working women and men in virtually every type of employment.
The California Labor Federation, AFL-CIO: "The state AFL-CIO, with more than 1,300 affiliated local unions, representing 2.1 million union members in diverse communities and sectors of the state's economy."

UNITE! (Union of Needletrades, Industrial and Textile Employees): Employees represented by UNITE work in apparel, textile and related industries, industrial laundries, distribution and retail, auto parts and supply, Xerox manufacturing, as well as many other industries in the U.S. and Canada. This union is the result of the merger of two of the nation's oldest unions, the International Ladies' Garment Workers' Union (ILGWU) and the Amalgamated Clothing and Textile Workers Union (ACTWU).
LaborNet: This organization was founded in 1991 with the goal of building "a democratic communication network for the labor movement." LaborNets have been established in six countries thus far and provide extensive clearinghouses for information related to labor issues.
The Strike Page: This is one of LaborNet's many projects.
Statement of Academics in Support of Free Higher Education: The movement in support of free higher education was initiated and is being organized by the Debs-Jones-Douglass Institute. Numerous organizations across the nation already have passed resolutions in support of this concept. At its February 2003 meeting, the APC Statewide Council passed a resolution supporting free higher education for all Americans.
United States National Labor Relations Board: The NLRB is a Federal agency created in 1935 to enforce the National Labor Relations Act, the act that includes the overtime provisions applicable to Unit 4 employees.
Economic Democracy Information Network: Sponsored by UC Berkeley's Center for Community Economic Research (CCER).
